Project Accountant

We’re looking for a highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The focus will be on ensuring that general ledger is reconciled in a timely manner with our project management and DM team, completely and accurately to ensure up-to-date financial reporting, cash positions, and working capital reports.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Accounting and Finance, the desired outcomes of the position are as follows:

  • Work closely with Project Managers and DM‘s to prepare billings
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with Subcontractors, Project Managers, and DM‘s
  • Responsible for assisting the tracking of accounts receivable (AR) within your area
  • Performs general accounting and administrative functions to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting
  • Various other administrative tasks related to the proper and timely execution of projects
  • Completes all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Work on a daily basis with the vendors and subcontractors on issues with billing and payments
  • Responsible for collecting, logging and verifying all required lien waivers from Subcontractors and their suppliers for every payout are received and submitted to Project Owners as required.
  • Respond to requests for information and analysis from the Project Managers on various job cost and subcontractor issues
  • Host bi-weekly meetings with Project managers to ensure general ledger and subledgers are in line
  • Set up new projcets, enter budgets, owner change orders, and owner billings in accounting system
  • Assist and serve as backup for accounts payable (AP), which includes processing all vendor invoices including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts payables’ data to ensure that all invoices are accounted for and properly posted
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare monthly close process, which includes recording and reviewing journal entries; preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and researching fluxes
  • Continuously identify and develop solutions for process improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline, preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • 4 or more years of experience in a similar role
  • Candidate should be self-motivated, able to effectively prioritize responsibilities, work within tight deadlines, and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Superior poise and professionalism.
  • Must be able to think outside the box, work independently with general supervision, be a team player, and willing to contribute beyond the defined role to meet business needs as circumstances require.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Rapid growth or fast-paced, company experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP functions, etc.)
  • Additionally, candidates should be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

Compensation:

  • Annual Salary of $55,000 to $75,000
