Visitors to Maui, O’ahu and Kauai:
Gov. David Ige announced Wednesday, Sept. 16, that that state will launch the pre-travel testing program for arriving passengers beginning Oct. 15.

The program will allow visitors to Maui, O’ahu and Kauai who test negative for COVID-19 to avoid the 14-day mandatory quarantine, which has been in place for all arriving travelers since March. Arriving passengers must test negative for COVID within 72 hours prior to travel, and as of now, no commercial testing will be provided at the airport.

If a passenger’s test results are not available by the time they arrive in Hawaii, the traveler will have to remain in quarantine until they receive their results.

All arriving passengers must adhere to other Covid-related travel protocols, including filling out travel and health forms. Passengers who do not choose to get tested prior to arriving in Hawaii will still have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period.

Visitors to the Big Island:
Out-of-state travelers arriving at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole will be able to skip the mandatory 14-day quarantine with a negative result from both a pre-flight COVID-19 test on the mainland and a free rapid-response COVID-19 antigen test at the airport itself.

Beginning 1st November, The Bahamas will remove the mandatory “Vacation in Place” requirement for all visitors, returning citizens and residents thereby, enabling everyone to move about and explore the destination beyond the confines of their hotel or other accommodations.

In addition, and to ensure that travelers remain COVID free, a rapid antigen test will be conducted upon arrival, and then again four days (96 hours) after arrival in The Bahamas.
