St. Barths is a beautiful place full of beautiful things for beautiful people.
As you might expect of any luxury shopping destination, everything is of the highest quality and price. What is unique to St. Barths shops, though, is its private treatment of its often wealthy and famous clientele. St Barths is known as a playground for the celebrated, talented, and wealthy individuals of the world, and they come from all over to discreetly choose their designer gifts and fashions, their french wines and perfumes, and their spa and wellness products. You may see David Letterman shopping in Ralph Lauren, Beyoncé purchasing a Louis Vuitton handbag, Pippa Middleton looking at a Rolex, or Nicolette Sheridan sporting Eres beachwear. All of them are given personalized service, yet visitors enjoy the same preferential treatment as even the most well-known guests.
Though the shops mostly feature high-end European designer fashions and accessories, the natural tropical environment brings out a casual approach to shopping you won’t find in the more urban shopping meccas of Paris, Tokyo, or New York. Stroll at a leisurely pace around the bay and enjoy the Caribbean breeze as it ruffles your hair and the sails in the harbor. Natural plant fibers are the main players in fashion here: organic cotton, bamboo fiber, and silk, linen, and cashmere. The designers take great pleasure in creating pieces they love wearing to the beach themselves.
In addition to shopping for the latest fashions, you’ll also find find unique jewelry and high-end watches, crystal and china, tennis and golfing outfitters, and water sports equipment. And even if you don’t have a large pocketbook, just window shopping in these elegant boutiques is an enjoyable way to spend a day.
